A visionary program designed to uplift underprivileged single parents, particularly women, in Sierra Leone. By strategically implementing microenterprise skills and resources, this initiative aims to dismantle the barriers of economic vulnerability, fostering sustainable growth and empowerment. Reflecting AGDA’s commitment to holistic transformational development, this initiative serves as a beacon of hope, aligning with the organization’s core principles and contributing to lasting change within marginalized communities.
Proposed Actions
We propose a comprehensive two-phase approach to equip individuals with the essential skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to establish and manage microenterprises, thereby facilitating sustainable income generation and economic self-sufficiency.
Location
This transformative project will be implemented across communities throughout Sierra Leone, focusing on regions where economic vulnerabilities are most pronounced. Our goal is to uplift individuals facing limited opportunities due to their circumstances.
Rationale
Economic vulnerabilities disproportionately impact single parents, especially women, in Sierra Leone. This initiative is rooted in the belief that by addressing these vulnerabilities at their core, we can disrupt the cycle of dependence and empower individuals to take control of their economic futures.
Specific Audience
Our program is specifically designed for single parents, primarily women, who possess limited marketable skills, are of mature age, and are not currently involved in ministry activities. These disadvantaged individuals often find themselves trapped in a cycle of limited opportunities, making it essential to equip them with the skills and support necessary to overcome their challenges.
Collaborative Efforts
AGDA’s commitment to partnership and collaboration is integral to this initiative. We will work alongside international organisations, volunteering business professionals, community leaders, and financial institutions to establish a comprehensive support network that leverages resources, expertise, and relationships for the benefit of our participants.
Duration
This transformative journey will span 24 months cycle, divided into two distinct yet interconnected phases. The Microfinance Management Training phase will last two months, focusing on essential financial literacy, microfinance principles, business planning, and market research skills. Subsequently, the Microenterprise Workshop phase will provide two months of intensive guidance, enabling participants to effectively develop and manage their microenterprises.
